Floyd Henry Imel, age 85, of Chadwick, Illinois passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2014 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be given in Floyd's honor to Children Hospital of Illinois 530 NE Glen Oak Avenue Peoria, Illinois 61637 and the Good Samaritan Nursing Home Auxiliary in Mt. Carroll.
Floyd was born September 9, 1928 in Thomson, Illinois, the son of Harold and Gladys (Tripp) Imel. He grew up on the family farm, attending the Emerson Country School, and is a Chadwick High School Graduate with the Class of 1947. On September 20, 1953, Floyd married Wilma Miller at the First Bretheren Church in Lanark. He was then drafted into the US Army serving from 1954 -1956 in Europe.

Floyd farmed much of his life near Chadwick. He also worked twenty-two years for Dairy Lab Services, testing milk at area Dairy Farms. Floyd retired in 2010. He could fix about anything around the farm, and he especially enjoyed woodworking. Floyd had little time for hunting or fishing, but always had time for work on the farm. Floyd was a true family-man and he would do anything for his family. Floyd was a member of the York Community Church, Thomson and the Chadwick American Legion.
Floyd will be dearly missed by his wife, Wilma of Chadwick; his daughter, Judy (Daryle) Jones of Lanark; three sons, Duane (Barb) Imel of Chadwick, Barry (Ronda) Imel of Milledgeville and Tom (Sandy) Imel of Chadwick; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Jones (John Squires), Sara Jones, Eric (Darci) Imel, Stacey Imel, Chelsey (Adam) Fritzgerald, Courtney (Todd) Alexander, Ryan Imel (fiance Jackie Appel) and Kyle Imel; five great grandchildren, Carter, Jonathon, Kaylen, Brayden and Carly; one brother, Kenneth (Rita) Imel; and several nieces and nephews. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Rath.
