Florence “Fussy” Remrey, age 89, of Savanna, Illinois passed away February 16, 2018 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20,2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Fussy’s memory.
Fussy was born March 23, 1928, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of John and Martha (Wert) McCarthy. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. On September 6, 1948, Fussy married Robert “Kuke” Crist. They celebrated 22 years of marriage. Kuke passed away on April 5, 1971. On June 16, 1979, Fussy married Stanley “Stan” Remrey. They celebrated 26 years of marriage. Stanley passed away on August 18, 2005. Fussy always claimed she was married to the two best husbands ever.
Fussy was a homemaker and had several part time jobs throughout the years. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and reading poetry. She known for her cooking and especially her desserts. She loved animals and her stuffed animals. Most of all, Fussy treasured the time she spent with her family.
Fussy will be dearly missed by her son Thomas Crist of Dubuque, Iowa; two daughters Martha (Steven) Lovely of Forest Hill, Maryland and Rae Ann (David) Reynolds of Savanna, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren;one great-great granddaughter;son in-law, Gary Baglin of Savanna and a daughter in-law, Barbara Crist of Sioux City, Iowa. Fussy is preceded in death by both of her husband’s Kuke and Stan; daughter Dana, and three sons, Danny, Bobby and Jeff; a brother Morris; two sisters Patricia and Mary and her parents.
