Florence Root

Florence M. Root, age 92 of Hanover, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette, Wisconsin. A memorial fund has been established in Florence’s memory.
Florence was born on September 26, 1922, the daughter of Theodore and Charlotte (Forsberg) Peterson in Marinette, Wisconsin. She married Ldee Root on September 3, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church in Marinette. Ldee died on March 12, 2011 in Elizabeth.
Florence worked at the knitting mill in Marinette and later for an ammunition factory in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary in Hanover. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially bird watching and flower and vegetable gardening. She also enjoyed crocheting, canning and playing the piano. Florence always looked forward to attending church and visiting with family and friends.
Florence will be dearly missed by her daughter, Linda Root of Hanover and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ldee; three brothers and three sisters.Florence’s family would like to give special thanks to Galena Hospital, Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, and the Elizabeth Nursing Home for the loving care that was provided to Florence during her stay.
