Florence "Darlene" Pettera, age 75, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Galena Stauss Hospital, Galena, Illinois A Funeral Mass will be held, Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., April 12, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover, Illinois. Father Stanislaw Kos will be Celebrant. Friends may call from 4:00- 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2006, Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover.
Florence was born on July 12, 1930, the daughter of Milton and Genevieve (Tyler) Wilkenson in Homer, Wisconsin. On April 18, 1950, Florence married Lawrence A. Pettera, in Boscobel, Wisconsin. Lawrence passed away, October 2, 2001.
Florence was a homemaker, she worked at Eaton Corporation for ten years, a Cook and Bartender for Storybrook Country Club in rural Hanover and the Distillary Tavern. Florence very much loved and enjoyed being with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, going to Bingo, gardening, watching the Humming Birds on the feeder. and doing Find A Word puzzles. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover and the Hanover Ladies Auxillary Post #5300.
Florence will be deeply missed by five sons, Roger (Rose) Pettera of Hanover, Bernard (Fay) Pettera of Hanover, Jeffrey (Janet) Pettera of Hanover, and Brian Pettera of Hanover, Illinois, and Jerry Pettera of Rockford; two daughters, Gina Kennedy of Hanover and Susan (Steve) Groharing of Hanover; one sister, Zonia (Cookie) Ryniewicz of Beloit, Wisconsin; one sister in-law, Irene Check of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin; one brother in-law, Matt Pettera of Wauzeka, Wisconsin, eleven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; a stepfather, Lawrence Wolf; one infant brother and two grandsons.
