Florence Marie Kunau, age 89, formerly of Miles, Iowa, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 4th, at the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Reverend Gregory Geier will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00am Friday at the Church prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Miles City Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Elevator Fund at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Florence was born October 4, 1918, in Bryant, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Magdelena (Friedricksen) Bruse. She graduated from Miles High School class of 1937. On May 28, 1941 Florence married Milo Kunau in Bryant, Iowa. Milo died on June 2, 1997.
Florence worked for several years at GA Gohlman Grocery Store in Miles and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business “Kunau Trucking” in Miles for forty-seven years. She was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston, Iowa. On June 4, 1933 she was confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran. Florence was a member of the Ruth Women’s Circle of the Church, the Miles Women’s Literary Club; and several Card Clubs. Her hobbies included keeping a diary since 1934 and scrap booking since 1947.
Florence will be dearly missed by one great-nephew Bruce (Bonnie) Yaddof of Preston, Iowa; one great-niece Brenda (Wayne) Johnston of Clinton, Iowa; two great-great nieces Bridget (Cedric) Mullen of Omaha, Nebraska and Beth Yaddof of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Milo; one sister, Elenora Johannsen and her nephew and niece, Edward and Yvonne Yaddof.
