Florabel M. Bormann, 87, of Preston, Iowa, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston, Iowa, with Father Don Plamondon as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston, Iowa. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the church prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established in Florabel's memory.
Florabel was born on February 19, 1920, the daughter of Michael and Margaret (Gerardy) Michels in Bellevue, Iowa. Florabel married Raymond M. Bormann Sr. on August 21, 1945 in Preston, Iowa. Raymond passed away on March 9, 1994. Florabel was a Homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She farmed with her husband near Preston until retiring and moving to town in 1972. She was a longtime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. She enjoyed baking, quilting, gardening, cards and Bingo. Most of all, Florabel loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Florabel will be dearly missed by five sons, Robert (Madonna) Bormann of Monticello, Iowa, Arnold (Darla) Bormann of Preston, David (Gwen) Bormann of Fredericksburg, Iowa, Dennis (Becky) Bormann of Preston, and Raymond (Lisa) Bormann Jr. of Preston, Iowa; six daughters, Eleanor Thines of Preston, Laura (Junior) Steines of Bellevue, LaVonne (Roger) Gerlach of Bellevue, Arlene (Ed) Skoff of DeWitt, Iowa, Zita (Bill) Blumhoff of Albany, Illinois, and Joyce (David) Miller of Preston; fifty-three grandchildren; sixty-eight great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Florabel was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; one son; one daughter; seven grandchildren; one brother, Leroy; and one sister, Verneda Downey.
