Evelyne Dorothy Beck, age 91, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, died peacefully at home April 4, 2006. She was born February 22, 1915, in Sperry, Iowa to Anna and Joseph Kauffman. Evelyne graduated from Thomson High School and was a long time resident of Savanna. She worked many years at Savanna City Hospital and Big Meadows nursing home. She recently received her 60-year award for the Order of the Eastern Star and belonged to the Order of Moose Auxiliary.
Her dear husband, Laurence Beck, and her sons, Boyd and Craig Beck, preceded her in death. Her one surviving sibling is brother Pete Kauffman of Mount Carroll, Illinois. Her other siblings were brother George and sisters Katherine, Pearl, Gladys, Harriet, and Trilbe.
She is survived by her daughters, Louise Wilmot (husband Michael Wilmot) of Omaha, Nebraska and Nelda Beck (husband David Swessel) of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her grandchildren are Lisa Campbell (husband Tom Campbell) and Lorrie Mills of Thomson, Illinois, Kurt Beck (wife Cindy Beck) of Savanna, Illinois, and Lynda Loontjer (husband Scott Loontjer) and Brooke Sweeney (husband Christopher Sweeney) of Omaha, Nebraska. Her great grandchildren include Ben Beck, Joe and Jenissa Campbell, and Bradlee, Lukes, and Nikolas Loontjer.
Visitation will be Friday, April 7 from 4pm till 7pm at the Law-Jones funeral home in Savanna. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Law-Jones funeral home with burial in the family plot at Savanna cemetery. A reception will follow at the Savanna Moose Lodge.
She gave her selfless love to all her family and friends throughout her life. Now she rests in peace for all of eternity in the arms of our loving God.
