Evelyn Stamp, age 96, of Preston, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April, 14, 2008, at the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Reverend Gregory Geier will officiate. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. Memorials may be directed to the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Evelyn was born October 19, 1911 in Center Township, Clinton County, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Katharine (Moeller) Mangold. She attended school at Miles, Iowa graduating with the Class of 1930. On August 28, 1935, Evelyn married Harry Kruse. Harry passed away on July 2, 1956. Evelyn farmed with her husband until their retirement in 1955. They kept the farm in the family and it is now a Century farm. On October 14, 1961, she married Harry Stamp. He passed away on February 5, 1987. Evelyn and Harry loved traveling many places together. She also enjoyed cooking and was known for her rye bread and her pies. Evelyn loved playing cards and visiting with her friends. She was a faithful member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church of Preston, were she participated in the Women’s Circle. Evelyn was also a member of the Preston Senior Citizens.

Evelyn will be dearly missed by her daughter, Phyllis (Lorin) Berg of Charlotte, Iowa; a step daughter, Dorothy Storek of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a sister Bernice, a niece Patsy, a grandson Greg, and an infant great grandson David.
