Evelyn K Smith, 96, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Friday, October 22, 2010, at Northbrook Manor in Cedar Rapids. Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa, is handling the funeral arrangements. A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Preston. Burial will follow in St. Joseph‘s Catholic Cemetery, Preston. Luncheon will follow burial. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass at church.
Evelyn was born March 19, 1914 in Preston to Jacob and Libbie Gollobit. She married Ralph Smith on November 22, 1932 in Preston. He preceded her in death October 5, 1967. They owned and operated Smith Oil Co.
Evelyn is survived by two sisters, Mary Johnson of Sabula, Iowa and Alta Russell of Aledo, Illinois and many loving nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edward, Virtus and Lawrence.
Evelyn’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Northbrook Manor for their loving care.
