Evelyn M. Rannow, age 73, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at home. According to her wishes, Evelyn will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Savanna with Reverend Mike Jones of Wesley United Methodist Church of Stockton, Illinois officiating. Burial will follow in the Savanna Township Cemetery. Evelyn was born on August 8, 1936, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Clyde and Luella (Libberton) Skiles. She graduated as Salutatorian from Savanna Township High School with the Class of 1954. Evelyn served her country in the United States Marine Corp. She married Laurence A. Rannow on September 19, 1958, in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1996, in Clinton, Iowa.Evelyn worked for the United States Postal Service in Savanna for thirty – three years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the VFW Post 2223 Ladies Auxiliary. Evelyn was a crossword puzzle master, an avid reader. She enjoyed taking walks, and listening to country music. Most importantly, she loved the time she spent with her family.Evelyn is survived and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Raquel (Bill) Stocker of Darlington, Wisconsin, Laura Rannow of Savanna, Illinois, and Ronda Rannow of Clinton, Iowa; three sons, Michael (Rhonda) Rannow of Savanna, Ray (Mary) Rannow of Savanna, and Brian (Becky) Rannow of Savanna; one stepson in-law, Gilbert Stralow of Morrison, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Florence (Marv) Brandt of Clinton; and two brothers, Frank (Sharon) Skiles of Slidell, Louisiana, and Raymond (Joanne) Skiles of Savanna, Illinois.Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Laurence; twins at birth, Randy and Rayo; and one stepdaughter, Carol. Memorials may be given to Mercy Homecare 638 South Bluff, Clinton, Iowa 52732 in Evelyn’s honor.
