Evelyn A. Jacobs

Evelyn A. Jacobs, age 87, of Chadwick, Illinois, died Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chadwick. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 2, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chadwick. Burial will follow in the Chadwick Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

Evelyn was born August 12, 1924, in Chadwick, Illinois, the daughter of William and Hattie (Miller) Dambman. She attended Chadwick Country Schools. Evelyn married George Jacobs on April 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1999.

Evelyn was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. She also farmed with her husband for many years just outside of Chadwick. Most people that knew her affectionately called her the “Egg Lady” as she raised many chickens and delivered up to 150 dozen eggs a week. Evelyn enjoyed spending as much time with her grandchildren as she could.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Jerry (Janice) Jacobs of Chadwick, Illinois, and Roger (Terri) Jacobs of Chadwick; seven granddaughters and two grandsons; and eight great grandchildren with two more great granddaughters due soon.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Allen.
