Eunice V. Kevern, age 92, of DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of Elizabeth, Illinois, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006, at the West Wing Nursing Facility in DeWitt, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. A general memorial fund has been established in Eunice’s memory. Eunice was born on August 11, 1914, the daughter of John and May (Weber) Deneen in Riley, Wisconsin. She graduated from Mt. Horeb High School at the age of 15, with class of 1930 and later attended Teacher’s College in Platteville, Wisconsin. On August 6, 1932, Eunice married Norman G. Kevern in Lanark, Illinois. Norman passed away on May 18, 1993.
Eunice worked as a Nurses Aide at the Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois for many years, retiring in 1979. She was also a longtime member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover, Illinois. Eunice was a homemaker, who loved spending time with her family, most of all she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Eunice is survived by one son, Clifford (Rose) Kevern of Chatham, Illinois; two daughters, Norma Jean Arnold of Elizabeth, Illinois and Alice May (Marvin) Schnepel of DeWitt, Iowa; one brother, Mark (Helen) Deneen of Riley, Wisconsin; one sister, Doris Trader of Elizabeth, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Eunice is preceded in death by her husband, Norman; one son-in-law, Wallace Arnold; three brothers and six sisters.
