Ethel Sturtz

Ethel M. Sturtz, age 50, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Ethel's memory.
Ethel was born March 21, 1965, the daughter of Norman and Margery (Peters) Wernick in Clinton, Iowa. She attended Savanna Schools and Mt. Carroll High School, graduating with the Class of 1983. She later attended college and received her degree in art. Ethel married David Sturtz on June 26, 1987 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Ethel worked at Elkay Manufacturing in Lanark and as a Model Worker for Rolling Hills in Lanark. She loved cats and dogs, birdwatching, and also raised birds. She enjoyed baking, playing Farmville and especially spending time with her family and friends.
Ethel will be dearly missed by her husband, David; her children, Kevin (Shanna Carlson) Sturtz of Mt. Carroll, Brittney (Samuel) Bushman of Dubuque, Iowa, Candy (Eric) Curran of Shannon, Illinois, Jeremy (Bonnie) Sturtz of Milledgeville, Illinois, Scott (Amy) Sturtz of Morrison, Illinois, and Christofer (Cassie) Sturtz of Shannon, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Amanda) Wernick of Thomson, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Margery, and one brother William “Bill” Wernick.
