Esther Phialmlee
April 19, 1941 — June 13, 2019
Esther Phialmlee, age 78, of Savanna, IL, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 in her home. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11 am at Savanna Township Cemetery. Memorials can be made in the form of donations to Animal Care organizations.
Esther was born April 19, 1941 in Savanna, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Carrie “Marge” (Peterson) Phialmlee. She attended Savanna public schools, graduating from Savanna High School with the class of 1959.
As a member of the Savanna community her entire life, Esther worked nearly 50 total years in banking, for The National Bank, and the Savings and Loan Bank, respectively. She was also a member of the Savanna Community Church. Esther was an avid collector of antiques and loved watching old westerns. Above all else her favorite activities involved the love and care of animals. She often volunteered her time and effort toward animals in need.
Esther will be dearly missed by her beloved pets; two dogs, Missy and Bruiser, and two cats, Smokey and Cleo; her seven cousins, who she loved dearly, Mary (Travis) Hall of Temple, TX, Janet Phialmlee of West Chester, PA, Sandy (Michael) Themas of Chillicothe, IL, Robert (Cheryl) Phialmlee of Savanna, IL, Vicky (Karl) Rettenberger of Prairie Du Sac, WI, Jody (Dan) Prowant of Savanna, IL, and Dawn (Bob) Greene of Texas; her several second cousins; her close friends, Sally Brown of Savanna, Florence Powell, of Savanna, and Dee Miller of Savanna; as well as her many other friends and colleagues. Her family would like to offer a special thank you to Crissy Pagakis for her devoted care of Esther.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, and her twin sister Rae Ellen Phialmlee who passed at 16 days old.
