Ervin W. Lieb, age 93, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, with Reverend Harvey Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Ervin’s memory.
Ervin was born on April 18, 1917, the son of Stephan and Marie (Kleih) Lieb in Winside, Nebraska. He married LaVonne Streicher on March 26, 1944 in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. Ervin and LaVonne recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on March 26, 2011.
Ervin owned and operated Lieb’s Sign and Repair Shop in Elizabeth. Until recently, Ervin continually went to his shop to work and tinker. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. Most of all, Ervin cherished the meaningful time he spent with his family.
Ervin will be dearly missed by his wife, LaVonne of Elizabeth; two daughters, Bernice (Cletus) Eden of Stockton, Illinois and Betty (James) Brown of Elizabeth; one son, Brian (Sharon) Lieb of Loran, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Cheryl (John Catron) Eden of Winnebago, Illinois, Gregory (Tamara) Eden of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Nancy (James) Boop of Hanover, Illinois, Suzanne (James) Koch of Elizabeth and Brittany, Amanda and Emily Lieb of Elizabeth; six great grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa, Forrest, Jamie, Laney and Ethan; one brother, Reuben (Helen) Lieb of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; and one sister in-law, Marie Lieb of Elizabeth.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Lieb, Paul Lieb and Paul’s wife, Margaret Lieb; and one sister, Lillian Gonzalas.
