Ervin J. (Erv) Hammen

Ervin J. (Erv) Hammen, of Berthoud died Monday July 29, 2013 at the age of 81 among his loving family.Erv was born on February 10, 1932 in Savanna, Illinois to Harold and Ethelyn (Ervin) Hammen. Erv served in the Air Force for four years and then went on to work as a switchman on the Milwaukee railroad for sixteen years. In 1972, he became president of the SAE Circuits Colorado Inc. and enjoyed working among friends and wonderful employees until he retired to his horse property in 2010.He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, son Scott (Karen) Hammen of Loveland, and his grandchildren, Chase, Spencer, Brady, Shelby, and Claire. He is also survived by his niece Bobette (Paul) Meeter, a nephew Randy (Ilsa) Hammen, and sister in law Wendy Hammen. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Virgil and Eva Hammen, Scott and Annie Ervin, his parents Harold and Ethelyn Hammen, sister Pat Schriner, and a brother Harvey Hammen.Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary. A private memorial service and inurnment will take place at a later date in Savanna, Illinois.
