Erma L. Rocho, age 85, of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Alverno Nursing Facility in Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Savanna, Illinois. Reverend Michael Jones will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Savanna. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Erma’s memory.
Erma was born on June 16, 1922, the daughter of Sherwood C. and Luella Mae (Elliott) Barth in Savanna, Illinois. She married Raymond L. Rocho on June 3, 1962 in Savanna. Erma worked as a Waitress for Shores Restaurant and in Sales for Winkler Jewelry in Savanna. She also worked for the Savanna Army Ordnance Depot as a Munitions Handler. Erma was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the Wa Tan Ye Club in Savanna. Erma loved dancing and attending military balls with her husband. She was also active in many military ladies organizations. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and spending time with her family.
Erma will be dearly missed by one sister, Gloria D. Mc Donnell in Clinton, Iowa; one brother-in-law Donald Adams of Thomson, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; one sister, Berness J. Adams; one infant brother, Leroy and one brother-in-law, Eugene McDonnell.
