Erin Nicole Ruchotzke, age 22, of Sabula, Iowa, died on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, after complications from an asthma attack. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Savanna, Illinois with Reverend Larry Thomson officiating. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Burial will be in the Springlake Cemetery in rural Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Erin's memory.

Erin was born on January 2, 1985, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth L. and Maria I. (Kloth) Ruchotzke. She attended East Central High School in Miles, Iowa and graduated with the Class of 2003. She was currently enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She loved working with children and was completing degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. She worked at the Price Laboratory Child Development Center in Cedar Falls and was employed by Payless Shoe Store in Waterloo. Erin enjoyed being with her family and friends, spending time on the river, shopping, watching movies and listening to music.

Erin will be deeply missed by her parents, Kenneth Ruchotzke of Sabula and Maria (Ron) Thulion of Savanna; one sister Corinn Ruchotzke of Sabula; one step-brother, Tim Thulion of Baltimore, Maryland; one step-sister, Tracy (Adam) Peterson of Lester Prairie, Minnesota; one “sister” (sheltie), Kaylee of Savanna; paternal grandmother, Norma Ruchotzke of Miles, Iowa and paternal great-grandmother Betty Rathje of Sabula; and maternal step-grandparents, Rocky (Jeanne) Bess of Savanna; her aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunt and uncle; and her high school and college friends.

Erin was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Lyle Ruchotzke; paternal great-grandfather, Albert Rathje; and her maternal grandparents, Casey and Rosalie Kloth.
