Emma F. Schroeder, 86, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, formerly of Morrison, Illinois, died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. Burial will follow in the Cottonwood Cemetery, rural Morrison. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Emma was born February 3, 1925, in rural Whiteside County, the daughter of Adolf and Augusta (Coorman) Lefebre. She attended Whiteside County Schools. Emma married Paul Schroeder on December 15, 1943, at her parents home in rural Morrison. Paul preceded her in death in 1982.
Emma worked as a laundress for most of her life. She worked for many lawyers, judges, and other professionals in the Morrison area, and even ironed shirts up until a few weeks ago. Emma was a member of the Sterling Moose Lodge. She enjoyed birdwatching and baking, especially pies, cookies, and homemade bread.
Emma is survived and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Karen (Randy) Holm of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; one son, Wayne Schroeder of Morrison, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jessica (Colton) Anderson of Cambridge, Illinois, Angela (Fritz) Null of Morrison, and Matthew Updike of Morrison; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; two sisters; and two brothers.
