Elvera Rasmussen, age 85 of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Saturday May 26, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. A memorial service will be held on Thursday May 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll with the Reverend David Vidler officiating. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Elvera was born in Galena, Illinois on December 6, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Greene) Bauer, and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Galena. Elvera met her husband Roy and the two were married in Galena on July 4, 1947. Eventually they moved to a farm in Thomson, Illinois and lived there until moving to a farm in the Mt. Carroll area in 1955.
Elvera loved country western music, playing Bingo, Euchre, cooking, Morel hunting and her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a long time member of the First Ev. Lutheran
Church in Mt. Carroll and the local Farm Bureau.
Elvera will be dearly missed by her husband Roy; her two sons Robert (Jane) Rasmussen of Cedarville, Illinois and Ron (Kathy) Rasmussen of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; three step daughters Diane (Gordon) Finch of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Mary Kay Dent of Windsor, Co., and Janice Nitz of Overland Park, Ks.; four grandchildren, Rodney (Kimberly) Rasmussen, Johanna (Kurt) Yoder, Rachel Rasmussen and Jonathan Rasmussen; five step grandchildren, Bobby, Brad, Shelly, Carl and Ryan; and one great grandson Jaxon Ray Yoder.
Elvera was preceded in death by her parents and her brother
Chester (Dorothy) Bauer.
