Elsie Ennis, age 79, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll. A private family service will be held in Savanna with a burial in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Elsie was born on September 28, 1939, in Blytheville, Arkansas, the daughter of Homer and Hilda (White) Webster. She married Clifford Ennis on July 5, 1956. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage and raised four children.
Elsie and her husband moved to Chicago for a time before settling in Bellevue, Iowa. She was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She and Clifford owned and operated Point Pleasant Bait and Tackle and Restaurant in Bellevue from 1979 until their retirement in 1998. Elsie and Clifford moved to Monmouth, Iowa for a short while. After Clifford’s passing in 1999, she then moved to Savanna, Illinois. Elsie enjoyed playing cards, dominos, cooking, crocheting, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dogs.
Elsie will be dearly missed by her three children Donald Joe (Mary) Ennis of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, Henry Adrian (Judy) Ennis of Low Moor, Iowa, and Clifford Milton (Lori) Ennis of Sabula, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Mickey Webster of Tennessee, Billy (Roberta) Bryan of Shorewood, Illinois and Judy Rodgers of Blytheville, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her son, Ronald Gene in 1984.
