Elmer W. “Bill” Wurster, age 74, of Thomson, Illinois, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Genesis West in Davenport, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Law-Jones Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial fund has been established in Bill’s memory. Bill was born September 30, 1938, in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Elmer C. and Pauline Lahre Wurster Rice. On December 27, 1956 Bill married Patricia Spencer in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Bill honorable served in the United States Army. He worked for CF Industries in Albany, Illinois until his retirement.
Bill was a lifetime member of the Savanna VFW Post 2223. He was also a Thomson Village Zoning member. Bill enjoyed NASCAR racing, stock car driving, gardening, tree removal, morel hunting, hunting, fishing, sports. Most of all Bill loved spending lots of time with family.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Sherri (Joe) Turbyfield of Johnson City, Tennessee; one son, Michael (Betty Hebert-Wurster) Wurster of Hanover, Il; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Alice Clements of Minnesota, Rosina (Allen) Clarkson of Savanna, Becky Lachowolski of Savanna, Paul Wurster of Savanna. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; one son, William J. Wurster; one brother, Wayne Wurster.
