Ellen Virginia "Ginny" Suess

Ellen Virginia “Ginny” Suess, age 90 of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mount Carroll, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll with Reverend Teri Lafferty officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at the funeral home. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers for the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church and the Mt. Carroll Good Samaritan Center.
Virginia was born on November 22, 1922 in Mt. Carroll the daughter of Eugene and Fern (King) Williamson. She graduated from the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1939 and graduated from Frances Shimer College in 1941. She taught school at Center Hill, Mt. Carroll and Savanna schools teaching elementary school. Ginny loved being a teacher and working with children.
Virginia married Joseph J. Suess on June 27, 1953, in Savanna. Joe passed away on June 8, 1967.
Virginia loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing bridge and going for coffee with friends. She loved to knit, cross-stitch, do ceramics and other crafts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Virginia belonged to PEO Chapter GA, and several Bridge Clubs. She was a member of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church. She was active in the church all of her life and was a member of the Mary/Martha Circle.
Virginia will be missed by her sister, Mary Jean Emery; niece, Deb (Scott) Gallentine; great niece, Jennifer (James) Haas; great nephew, Drew Gallentine; and great-great nieces and nephews, Devon, Kendyll, Bradyn and Harper. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, husband, and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Emery.
