Elizabeth Ann Sour age 78, of rural Thomson, IL, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Frank Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with Reverend Robert Ziebarth officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Liz’s name to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll.
Liz was born February 10, 1932 in Mt. Carroll, the daughter of Donald Asa and Flossie Geneva Ditsworth. She attended the Argo Fay Country School. On November 6, 1948 Liz married John Sour. They farmed near Argo Fay and were married almost 60 years. John passed away February 13, 2008.
Liz loved music, playing the piano and accordion for dances since the age of ten. Later she played in the Glenn Law Orchestra. In the early 70s Liz helped establish and develop disability workshops in the area. She was a member of the Argo Fay Methodist Church and the Musicians Guild. Liz loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the “card club” , playing board games and always delighted in telling a colorful story.
Liz will be dearly missed by; a son, Ronald (Christine) Sour of Argo Fay; a daughter, Laurie (John) Hill of Argo Fay; four grandchildren, Angela (John) Ricketts, Pamela (Jeremiah) Johnson, Jason (Laura) Hill, and Scott (Stacy) Hill; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Kosier of Savanna; and three half-sisters, Susan Fritz, Sherri (Rick) Allen and Dawn (Phil) Phelps, all of Mt. Carroll. Liz was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; her son, Michael; and her sister Doris Keiser.
