Elizabeth Ann Farrey, 85, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Midwest Medical Center in Galena, Illinois. She was born on June 26, 1940, in Savanna, Illinois, to Eugene and Mary “Mollie” (Francke) Hunt.
Elizabeth grew up in New Lenox, Illinois and graduated from New Lenox High School in 1958 where she sang in the choir. She then worked various jobs and dedicated herself to raising her four children. In the early 1980s, she moved to Jo Daviess County, where she met the love of her life, Roger Farrey in 1986. They have been together a total of 39 years and were married in 2002 in Las Vegas, (“Elvis performed the ceremony.”)
Throughout her life, Elizabeth pursued various passions. She owned the Ridgeview Bed and Breakfast in Massbach, worked as a waitress at Eagle Ridge, and worked at the Galena Bookstore. She was an avid artist who enjoyed crafting lawn ornaments, gardening, musicals, doodling, reading, and painting in her younger years.
She is survived by her husband Roger of Hanover; four children: Denise Anderson of Elizabeth, Christina Hammar of Memphis, Shelly Siegel of Phoenix, and Frank Valy of Milwaukee; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jean Stegman; three brothers: Donald (Bud), Lawrence, and Dale Hunt; and a stepson, Roger Farrey, Jr.
A celebration of life gathering will be held 2 – 4pm Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. A service will be held at 4pm. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at Lost Mound Cemetery, Hanover.
