Elizabeth Rose Bornemann was born in Big Rapids Michigan to Hungarian immigrant parents, Emory and Mary Toth on June 14, 1921. She attended Saint Mary's School and Big Rapids High School.
After the death of her father and upon the start of World War II Elizabeth left her home and worked at the Ford Willow Run factory in South Eastern Michigan, building war planes. Toward war's end she married a soldier and later gave birth to her only child, Sandra, in 1947. Some years later in 1951 she met and married Larry Bornemann and settled in Aurora IL. After many peaceful years, and then upon Larry's death in 1984, Elizabeth moved to live with her daughter Sandra in Elizabeth, IL. During these subsequent years she enjoyed being part of Sandy's life, her home and catering business. She lovingly cared for their pet cats, found fulfillment in gardening and cooking while maintaining an active interest in television news, especially political news.
She was much appreciated and adored by her family, most of all daughter Sandy and David Seagraves, sister-in-law Gladys Toth, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, all to which she is considered beloved. She died peacefully early Monday morning, April 1, 2013, following Easter Sunday. She was ninety-one years of age.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth. Online condolences may be left for the family at
