Elizabeth Mae “Betty” Brinkmeier, age 71, of Savanna, Illinois passed away at her home on Saturday, September 16, 2006. Friends may gather for a time of sharing from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the Savanna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2223 in Savanna, Illinois. Inurnment will take place in the Lost Mound Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a general memorial fund has been established in Betty’s name.
Betty was born on August 9, 1935, the daughter of William and Bernice (Bailey) Bousman in Savanna. She attended Savanna area schools. On August 8, 1951, Betty married Dale E. Brinkmeier in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. She worked in the Savanna area doing factory work, tending bar and cooking for several establishments. Betty was a life member of the Savanna VFW Post # 2223, and a longtime member of the Savanna Moose Lodge #1095.
Betty loved spending time with her family and her dog, Tasha. Betty enjoyed crafts and traveling, she was always available to help a friend in need.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Dalene K. (Gerald) Skimhorn of Savanna; three sons, Ralph W. Brinkmeier of Savanna, Dale W. “PeeWee” Brinkmeier of Savanna, and Todd E. Brinkmeier of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and one sister, Charlene O’Neil of Savanna.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dwayne “Skipper” and one brother, Wayne.
