Eleanore Ilene Kehl, age 74, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Friday, March 2, 2007 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll with Pastor David Vidler of the First Evangelical Church officiating. Burial will be in the Lanark Cemetery, Lanark, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Eleanore’s name to Mt. Carroll Ambulance and Fireman’s Association.
Eleanore was born August 11, 1932 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Oscar and Glenola (Hayes) Schreck. Eleanore attended Fairground Country School and Mt. Carroll High School. She later completed her GED. On May 10, 1949, Eleanore married Charles Knauer in Oregon, Illinois. Charles died on January 24, 1987. Eleanore married Alvin W. Kehl on October 4, 1997 at Oakville Country Club, Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Eleanore loved her combined family, liked to travel and dance with her husband Alvin, and playing cards and games with friends and having lunch every Wednesday with the group.
Eleanore was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll. She sang in the choir for many years and was an active participant of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Eleanore was also a member of Carroll County Farm Bureau.
Eleanore will be dearly missed by her husband, Alvin Kehl of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; one daughter, Janice (Calvin) Cramer of Fulton, Illinois, one granddaughter Betsy (Brent) Schrader of Clinton, Iowa; two stepsons Steven (Linda) Kehl of Mt. Carroll, Illinois and Kurtis Kehl of Springfield, Virginia; one step-daughter Peggy (Vern) Johnson, of Peoria, Illinois; two step grandsons Jeffery Johnson of Peoria, Illinois and Rick (Amy) Medal of Okinawa, Japan; two step granddaughters Victoria and Jennifer Medal of Orland Park, Illinois and two step great grandsons; two brothers Larry Schreck of Rockford, Illinois and David (Dianna) Schreck of Freeport, Illinois; three sisters Dorothy Kast of Rockford, Illinois and Marjorie (Jan) Nicol of Shannon, Illinois and June Schreck (Bill Schmelzer) of Freeport, Illinois.
Eleanore was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Knauer.
