Eleanor Eisfeller

April 28, 1919 — March 10, 2017

Eleanor C. Eisfeller, age 97, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice in Eleanor’s memory.
Eleanor was born on April 28, 1919, the daughter of Dr. Wallace and Marie (Guenzler) Derrer in Pleasant Valley Township. She attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1937. On July 19, 1942, Eleanor married Elver Eisfeller. They celebrated 51 years of marriage until Elver’s death on March 25, 1994.
Eleanor worked for the First National Bank in Mt. Carroll, and later at Shimer College. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Eleanor loved her community and volunteered with many local organizations. Eleanor enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking, baking, and making quilts for loved ones. She was a life-long Cubs’ fan.
Eleanor will be dearly missed by two children, Richard (Barbara) Eisfeller of Greenland, New Hampshire, and Anne Eisfeller of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 6 grandchildren, John Eisfeller of Dover, New Hampshire, Justin (Jennifer) Eisfeller of Newmarket, New Hampshire, Richard (Billie Jo) Eisfeller II of Stockton, Illinois, Maria (James) Eisfeller Ferrelli of Stratham, New Hampshire, Karen (Shawn) Donovan of Nottingham, New Hampshire, and Michael (Rhonda) Zabielski of Dover, New Hampshire; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Elver; one brother, Lee Derrer; and her parents, Wallace and Marie.
