Eleanor Frances Eagle, age 90, of Thomson, Illinois died Friday, August 17, 2012 at home. She was born April 10, 1922 in Bridgeport, Illinois, the daughter of Forrest S. and Pearl M. (Nelson) Ash. On August 9, 1938, Eleanor married Kenneth H. Eagle. He died January 9, 1988 in McAllen, Texas.
Eleanor was a co-founder of the Committee for Better Roads and the Carroll County Action to Reform the Enviroment. She was an active member of the Thomson Depot Museum, a one-time member of the Teamsters Union, and a Lifetime Mother and Homemaker.
Eleanor is survived by five children, Kenneth (Susan) Eagle, Jr. of Thomson, Eleanor (Richard) Sigler of Alexandria, Indiana, Robin Bimm of Savanna, Robert (Kathy) Eagle of Thomson and Kathie (Edward) Woodruff of Riverview; thirty-six grandchildren; fifty-eight great grandchildren; fifty-five great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Alberta (Ernest “Buck”) Davis of Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Eleanor is preceded in death by both parents, her husband, five brothers, three sisters, her son James, three grandsons, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, one great grandson, two daughters in-law and one son in-law.
Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Thomson, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Lower York Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Thomson Depot Museum in Eleanor’s memory.
