Eileen G. Richmond, age 84, of Hanover, Illinois died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at her home. A funeral mass will be held 10:30a.m., Monday, November 23, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover with Father Noel Jacob as Celebrant. Burial will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the St. John Evangelist Catholic Church.

Eileen was born on January 2, 1925, the daughter of Emil and Elizabeth (Russ) Henschel in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from Hanover High School with the Class of 1943 and later graduated from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. Eileen married Robert E. Richmond on January 2, 1947 in the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover. Robert died on February 9, 2001 in Dubuque.

Eileen was a Nurse with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Dubuque and the Savanna City Hospital, Savanna, Illinois. She was also a nurse for Dr. Ralph Speer in Hanover. Eileen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was active in the St. Anne’s Society. She was also a member of the Hanover V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, gambling, crafts, and playing cards, especially Bridge. She also enjoyed sports and was a devout Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Most of all, Eileen loved spending time with her family.

Eileen will be dearly missed by her six children, JoAnn Nolan of Hanover, David (Maggie) Richmond of Hanover, Tom (Nina) Richmond of Hanover, Todd (Rebecca) Richmond of Platteville, Wisconsin, Dick (Peggy) Richmond of Clinton, Iowa, and Cindy (David) Bellmann of Sherrill, Iowa; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Emil (Bernice) Henschel of Dubuque and Richard (Norma Jean) Henschel of Colleyville, Texas; three sisters, Dolores Manley of East Dubuque, Illinois, Margaret Dolson of Dubuque, and Kathleen (Frank) Hovar of Roscoe, Illinois; and one brother in-law, Ward Harstick of Clinton, Iowa.

Eileen is also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jane Harstick and three grandchildren.
