Edward “The Goose” M. Polizzi, age 68 of Elizabeth, Illinois, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Polizzi Chapel located at 1303 South Apple River Road in Elizabeth. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth and from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. the time of the service at the Chapel on Thursday.
Ed was born November 23, 1944, the son of John and Marie (Roder) Polizzi in Chicago. He owned and operated Goose Island Shrimp House, Inc. in Chicago for forty years. Ed married Elizabeth Strobehn on February 8, 1963 in Chicago.
Ed was a Christian and he supported the Galena Bible Church in Galena, Illinois. He enjoyed watching movies, antique toys, driving cars and his military memorabilia including photos of his family members that had served. He had very high regard for military personnel. Most of all Ed enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife, Elizabeth of Elizabeth; two daughters, Lori (Mike) Davis of Elizabeth, Janet (Todd) Anthony of St. Germain, Wisconsin; three sons, Joseph (Tara) Polizzi of Rockford, Illinois, Edward (Stacy) Polizzi of Elizabeth, Robert (Michelle) Polizzi of Lanark, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers; Thomas Polizzi of Pahrump, Nevada, Joseph (Karen) Polizzi of Romeoville, Illinois; two sisters, Anna (John) Ball of Pahrump, Mary Polizzi of Montgomery, Illinois. Ed is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Robert Polizzi, and a grandson, Dominic Polizzi.
