Edward B. Manning, Sr., age 85, of Chadwick, Illinois, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 25, 2006 at Sts John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll. Edward was born March 3, 1920 in Thomson, Illinois, the son of Ben and Catherine (Halfman) Manning. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Edward married Bettie Nelson November 13,1943 in Monterey, California.
Edward worked for Smith Oil Corp. hauling fuel and LP gas. He was a member of SS. John & Catherine Catholic Church, Mt. Carroll, Illinois and the Chadwick American Legion and the Chadwick Lions Club. He and Betty enjoyed travel in their motorhome.
Edward will be deeply missed by his wife, Bettie Manning of Chadwick; his daughter, Janet (Neal) Queckboerner of Chadwick; a granddaughter, Kristine Tebrugge; three great grandchildren, Reilly, Paige and Griffin; five sisters, Izadora Senneff of Thomson, Mary Kordal of Boynton Beach, Florida, LaVonne Blakeslee of Livingston, Montana, Leota Cavanaugh of Polo, Illinois and Donna Conklin of Beloit, Wisconsin; two brothers, Lyle (Shirley) Manning of Polo and LaVern (Norma) Manning of Upham, North Dakota; and a sister in-law, Blanche Manning of Savanna, Illinois.
Edward is preceded in death by a son, Edward Manning, Jr.; a sister, Elenora Zubaty; two brothers, Jack and Bernard; and two granddaughters.
