Edward R. Kraft, age 87, of Hanover, Illinois, died on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Hanover United Methodist Church in Hanover. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Ed was born on July 20, 1922, in Fargo, North Dakota to Richard Otto and Caroline (Johnson) Kraft. He attended Roosevelt Elementary and NDAC High School, Fargo. After high school Ed joined the United States Army and served during World War II. He later went to work for the United States Post Office, were he later retired.
Ed was active in several clubs in his community for over fifty-years. He was a member to the American Legion and VFW in Hanover. Ed was also a member of the Mason’s, Hanover United Methodist Church and served as past president of the Hanover Lions Club. He loved golfing and spending time with his friends.
Ed will be dearly missed his sister, Eloise Runser of Long Beach, California; four nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Ed is preceded in death by his sister Edna Charles Gray and brother, Earl Kraft.
