Edna Dixie Comer

Edna Dixie Comer, age 87, of Savanna, IL, passed away at MercyOne Hospital in Clinton, IA, on January 4, 2026. A celebration of Edna’s life will be held on a future date. Interment will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Edna was born August 5, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Richard and Roberta (Hanover) Roos. Her parents moved their family to Savanna, when Edna was a young child. As a young adult, she became a homemaker and mother.

In 1971, Edna moved her family to Florida, to be closer to other family. There she made a career for herself as a CNA, working mostly in home healthcare. She was proud of her work, and served that role for nearly 60 years, finally retiring at age of 80.

In her free time, Edna loved to knit and crochet, and enjoyed reading poetry. She was a home body, who valued peace and quiet, and adored her two cats.

Edna is survived by a daughter, two brothers, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a son.
