Edna V. Buchholz, age 101, of Mount Carroll, IL, passed away on Saturday April 25th, 2020. A private family service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
Edna was born September 28th, 1918, in Davies, NE. She married the love of her life, Victor Buchholz, in Hopkinton, IA. Together they raised three children and celebrated over 50 years of marriage until Victor’s passing.
Edna lived on her farm outside of Mount Carroll for many decades. She was a member of Hickory Grove Methodist Church, the UMW, and the Moose. Edna frequently volunteered at the senior center and food pantry. Edna may be the longest standing member of the Farm Bureau in the county, holding membership for 80 years. She loved her family, dancing, and traveling.
Edna will be dearly missed by her two children, Violet Merryman of Savanna, and Larry Buchholz of Mount Carroll; nine grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren, and 18 Great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Beaston of Arkansas; and one sister, Carol Ingersol of Savanna. Edna is preceded in death by her husband Victor, her son James, her parents, and numerous brothers and sisters.
