Burial will follow the service, at Lost Mound Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share in Eileen’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Eileen was born July 25, 1931, in Mt. Carroll, IL, the daughter of Bromley and Mae (Henson) Hamilton. She attended Mt. Carroll schools. In 1951, she married Robert McIntyre. Shortly thereafter, in 1952, Eileen graduated from Mt. Carroll High School and began her life as wife and mother, two roles which she mastered! Throughout her years, Eileen was a member of Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, Presbyterian Women, and 4 C’s Club, and card club.
Eileen’s life was centered around her family. That all began with her duties as a farm wife, and she was as good as they get! She’d routinely make large meals for crews during harvest, frying freshly butchered chickens. She adored her children, and eventually grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always making every effort to attend their sporting events and other school activities.
In her younger years, Eileen was quite the dancer! She and Bob would hit up dance halls on the weekends and certainly treated themselves to a private waltz through their own kitchen on many occasions. She also had a lovely singing voice and loved to sing her favorite, Red River Valley, to her grandchildren. Eileen and Bob loved to travel, taking trip after trip by car, exploring the United States. They’re pretty sure they hit 49 of the 50 states during their adventures, somehow never making their way to North Carolina.
As she entered into her older years, one of her favorite things to do was simply sit around the table with her beloved family, blissfully taking in the sounds and laughter as the conversations took shape around her. For the last 12 years, Eileen wasn’t quite the same woman she had been before, as she dealt with Alzheimer's disease. But her love for her family never wavered, and her dear husband, Bob, stood dutifully and lovingly, by her side.
Eileen will be dearly missed by her husband, Bob; four sons, Robert Lon McIntyre, of Hanover, IL, Jeffrey (Susan) McIntyre, of Savanna, Steven (Patricia) McIntyre, of Savanna, and Wayne (Rebecca) McIntyre, of Galena; nine grandchildren, John (Chrissy) McIntyre, of Savanna, Jill McIntyre, of Milledgeville, Wade (Savannah) McIntyre, of Madison, WI, Danielle (Tyler) Ohlendorf, of Savanna, Rachel (Wesley) Schlegel, of Wellington, CO, James (Kristen) McIntyre, of State College, PA, Grace McIntyre, of Galena, Michael (Anela) McIntyre, of La Vernia, TX, Matthew (Mariah) McIntyre, of Burlington, WI; and seven great-children Drusiana McIntyre, Jack McIntyre, Maverick Ohlendorf, Griffin Ohlendorf, Sawyer June Schlegel, McKinley McIntyre, Cheyenne McIntyre. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, Bromley and Mae Hamilton; siblings Paul Hamilton, Delores Brandt, Walter Hamilton, Maynard Hamilton, and Bonnie Yenney.
