Earlo E. Marburger

Earlo E., Marburger, age 97, of Sabula, Iowa, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, Iowa with Reverend Robert Krueger officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Cemetery, rural Sabula. Visitation will be held 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the Church. A memorial fund has been established in Earlo’s name.
Earlo was born on January 27, 1912, in Green Island, Iowa, the son of Edward and Cora (Lingle) Marburger. He attended rural Jackson County Schools. On November 12, 1930, Earlo married Eva Johnson, the love of his life. Eva died February 4, 1995.
Earlo worked at the Savanna Army Depot before he and Eva purchased her family farm. They farmed together near Sabula for many years. Earlo loved the farming life, he was a farmer through and through. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially trapping and hunting. Earlo is a charter member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula.
Earlo will be dearly missed by his daughter, Ruby Michaelsen of Sabula; his son, Donald (Helen) Marburger of Sabula; twelve grandchildren; and many, many great and great-great grandchildren. Earlo is preceded in death by his wife, Eva; a son, Russell; a grandson, Randy; a son in-law, Jerry; two sisters; and two brothers.
