Earl Richard Warfield, age 67, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Saturday, November 21, 2011 at FHN Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with Pastor Terri Lafferty of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 25 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his memory.
Earl was born April 8, 1944 at home in Savanna Township, the son of James “Vern” and Lila (Schreiner) Warfield. He attended Plum Grove Country School and Center Hill School. On October 24, 1985, Earl married Alice Faye (Bentley) Clark. They were married 24 years. Alice passed away May 16, 2010.
Earl worked for Colehour Elevator, and Ivey Monuments for many years. He later worked for the Mt. Carroll School District and Swiss Colony, Savanna. Earl attended the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church. He was a ham radio operator (WA9KIG), radio operator for the Carroll County Emergency Operations Center, and a certified weather spotter. Earl was also an avid bird watcher.
Earl will be dearly missed by a son, Fred Clark, Jr.; two daughters, Lynnette (Paul) Forth of Mt. Carroll and Tasha (Tony) Croffoot of Mt. Carroll; five grandchildren, Ben and Freddie Clark, Michael and Maya Croffoot and Jayden Forth ; his sister, Rosemary (Melvin) Mann of Lanark; and five nieces, Joy, Judy, Michele, Darla, and Georgia; and a nephew, Allen. Earl is preceded in death by both parents; a infant sister, Elizabeth; and a brother, Stanley.
