Earl Edwin Nesbitt, age 95, of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Illinois. Pastor Barbara Rapp of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Schapville, Illinois will officiate. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna, Illinois. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home.
Earl was born September 20, 1911, the son of Harry and Belva (Gillespie) Nesbitt, in Savanna, Illinois. Earl graduated from the Savanna High School class of 1929. On July 23, 1931, he married Lucille Householder in Savanna, Illinois. She died on October 9, 1996.
Earl farmed during his younger years. He worked at the Savanna Army Depot during World War II and later worked as a Welder for Flexonics, in Bartlett, Illinois. He retired from Flexonics in 1976. He was a lifetime member of Savanna Moose Lodge. Earl enjoyed gardening and working in his flowerbeds. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Earl is survived by four sons, C. H. “Bud” (Neva) Nesbitt of Apple River, Illinois, Larry (Guylene) Nesbitt of Rock Falls, Illinois, Dale Nesbitt of California, Ronald (Amy) Nesbitt of West Chicago, Illinois; two daughters, Karen Nesbitt of Sandwich, Illinois and Vicki Gibson of Platteville, Wisconsin; one son-in-law Dennis Parkinson of Metropolis, Illinois; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter Pat Parkinson; one great grandson Matthew Nesbitt, and one brother Kenneth Nesbitt.
