March 18, 1927 — July 17, 2015

Earl Delp Jr., age 88, of Mt. Carroll, previously of Lanark, Illinois, died Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with Pastor Steven Newell officiating. Burial will be in the Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established in Earl's memory.
Earl was born March 18, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Earl and Edna Grace (Whitmer) Delp. He is a 1945 graduate of the Lanark High School. Earl served in the US Army during WWII stationed in Salzburg, Austria. While in the Army, Earl met his sweetheart, Eva-Maria Lorenz. Earl and Eva-Maria were married in Berchtesgaden, Germany September 4, 1948 before returning to the United States. They raised two sons and celebrated sixty-six years of marriage.
Earl and Eva-Maria farmed near Lanark and Mt. Carroll for many years, Earl assisting with combining during the harvest of 2014. Earl enjoyed woodworking, making many wooden toys. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Carroll and the Lanark Lions Club. Earl was proud of over fifty years of perfect attendance with the Lions Club. He served as District Govenor for Lions International in 1977 – 1978, traveling to many countries for International conventions.
Earl will be dearly missed by his wife Eva-Maria of Mt. Carroll; two sons, James (Roberta) Delp of Darlington, Wisconsin and Richard (Debra) Delp of Mt. Carroll; four grandchildren, Benjamen Nathan Delp, Sara May (Asa Honegger) Burbank, Michael Earl Delp and Elizabeth Grace (Joshua) Graham; and two great grandchildren, Lily Grace and Gabriel Lee Graham. Earl is preceded in death by both parents.
