Marilynn was born July 18, 1921 in Freedom Township on the family farm, the daughter of John and Edith (Kingery) Freeman. She was a graduate of Milledgeville High School and attended Shimer College in Mt. Carroll. On February 2, 1941 Marilynn married Lloyd A. Kloepping at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll. They were married for 68 years when Lloyd passed away April 1, 2009. Marilynn was baptized as a sign of being Born Again after joining the Brethren Church in Lanark.Together she and Lloyd worked very hard farming in the Lanark area and in 1959 they purchased two farms at Derinda Center, near Elizabeth where they strived to be good stewards of the land. Marilynn raised chickens and bottle-fed calves and had a big garden with rows of beans the boys said seemed to have “no end” when picking. Marilynn & Lloyd decided to retire from the long days and hard work on the farm in 1970 when they sold the Derinda farms and moved to Mt. Carroll. They remodeled and lived in several homes there which they would then rent or sell. Finally in 1986 they moved into their permanent retirement home in Lanark. Marilynn was a member and held officer positions in the Daughters of the American Revolution and Home Extension. For many years she was a Sunday School teacher and an active member of the choir. Her sons fondly remember the many solos she sang for church services and special events. Marilynn is survived by her three sons, Brian & Bonita of Shannon, IL, Bruce & Carol of Brodhead, WI, and Bradley & JoAnne of Princeton, IL; five grandsons, Craig & Kristin of Baileyville, IL, Barry & Sheila of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Brett & Karen of Princeton, IL, Casey & Amanda of Brodhead, WI, and Shane & Sara of Tiskilwa, IL; and eleven great grandchildren, Caidin, Keileigh, Erin, Josiah, Tessa, Trent, Tricia, Kennedy, Nolan, Brinley and Benjamin. Marilynn was dearly looking forward to the birth of her twin great grandsons next month. Marilynn was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; an infant son, Craig; two grandsons, Steven and Nathan; a brother, Ralph; and a sister, Blanche Jones.
