Dwayne J. Sleeman, of Savanna, passed away Tuesday, November 21, at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Dwayne was born June 30, 1957, youngest son of David and Mildred (Hahns) Sleeman. He grew up in the small town of Wascoe, IL, and attended Geneva High School, graduating with the class of 1975. After high school, Dwayne joined the United States Navy, and served his country for four years. After his time in the service he moved back to Illinois. Years later Dwayne met the love of his life, Jane Tarkett, in Elizabeth, IL. They hit it off right away, and would later get married. Together they celebrated 31 year of marriage.
Dwayne was a long haul semi driver for 30 years. When he wasn’t working, he was golfing, and tried to golf everyday. His golf buddies were an important part of his life, and he always looked forward to time spent on the course. On October 5th, 2023, Dwayne got his first hole in one at Sand Burr outside of Thomson, Il. Dwayne was a happy man, and laughed a lot. He was very loving, and cared deeply for his family. His kind heart lives on in those he held close.
Dwayne will be dearly missed by his wife, Jane Sleeman of Savanna; his brother, Jeff (Pam) Sleeman of Florida; his step-daughter, April (Louie) Bailey of Galena; his step-granddaughter, Imogene; his niece, Sarah; niece and nephew in law, Sarah and John; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Moore of Clinton, IA, and Kris (Bill) Marshall of Rockford, IL; his brother-in-law, Uali Johnson of Roseberg, OR; and his golf buddies, Scott, Monty, John, John, Steve, and Jim. Dwayne is preceded in death by his parents, David and Mildred.
