Duane "Weiner" Rittmer

Duane “Weiner” Rittmer, age 42, of Sabula, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2011, also at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula with Rev. Bob Krueger officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Memorials may be directed to the family in Duane’s memory.
Duane was born February 13, 1969, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of David L. and Judy A. (Leonard) Rittmer. He graduated from East Central Community High School with the Class of 1987. Duane married Jody Miller on September 26, 1992, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula.
Duane worked as a CNC Machinist for Metform in Savanna for eighteen years. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula and Ducks Unlimited. Duane enjoyed hunting of all kinds, but especially loved duck hunting, snowmobiling, fishing and being out on the river, and having a beer with friends and family. He also enjoyed stock car racing and was the driver for the “76 Street Stock” Team. Duane’s greatest joy came from watching his son Dylan play sports.
Duane is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Jody Rittmer of Sabula, Iowa; his son, Dylan Rittmer of Sabula; his parents, David and Judy Rittmer of Sabula; his grandmother, Visetta Leonard of Sabula; two sisters, Pamela (David) Koch of Sabula, and Carla (Sheldon) Woodhurst of Sabula; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Duane was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, his paternal grandparents, and four cousins.
