Duane Miller

Duane L. Miller had rough hands and a warm heart. He entered into heaven at the age of 50 on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa.
Duane was born on September 14, 1963, the son of Wilfred “Bud” and Beverley (Petersen) Miller in Savanna, Illinois. He attended East Central School and Graduated with the Class of 1981. Duane later attended Northern Iowa Technical Institute in Kelmar, Iowa, and graduated with a degree in Diesel Mechanic in 1983. Duane was a highly skilled mechanic and worked for Beidler John Deere Implement in Maquoketa, Iowa for several years, he also worked on farm equipment at his home. If it had a motor, Duane could make it run.
Duane was an avid snowmobiler; he belonged to the Jackson County Snowmobile Association. He enjoyed throwing darts, mud bogging. Duane truly cherished the time he spent with his great niece, three great nephews and his nephew.
Duane will be dearly missed by his two sisters, Shirley (Clifford) Melvin of Miles, Iowa, Sandra (Rodney) Stark of Winslow, Illinois; two brothers, Dale Miller of Miles, Iowa, Dennis Miller of Clinton; three nieces, Kristi (Bradley) Rice-Melvin, Amanda (Doug) Horst, Lisa (John) Holdgrafer; three nephews, Jordan Miller, Darrin Miller, Michael Miller; to great nieces; six great nephews. Duane is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sharon Miller and a nephew, Chad Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Burial will take place in Miles Cemetery, Miles. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established in Duane’s memory.
