Duane Hammer

December 5, 1947 — May 13, 2025

Duane Hammer was born December 5th, 1947. He passed away May 13, 2025 with his wife,
Karen of nearly 60 years, by his side. He was 77 when he passed.

He was the first of seven children born to Glenn and Goldie (Dalton) Hammer. He learned early
that life brings the experience to navigate future road blocks but that it's your choice which path
you follow. His mother, Goldie, passed away when Duane was just getting into his teens. I think
that taught him one of the greatest lessons he passed down to his three boys. Protect those
you love. He married the love of his life, Karen (Stage), on November 28th, 1965.

Duane worked several jobs throughout his life. In the 60's and 70’s he worked for the CNW
Railroad working his way up from welder to train inspector. Duane and Karen worked
construction together in the early 80’s. Both joined the carpenters union from which they retired
as journeymen. Duane did not work for the joy of it. He saw work as a means to get what was
needed for the weekend, where he could spend time with family and friends just sitting around
a camp fire sharing stories. He will be missed by those that knew him.

Duane is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Shane (Shelly) Hammer, William (Karen) Hammer,
and Jeff (Stephanie) Hammer; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters, Pam
(Gene) Dzwierzynski and Glenda Moore; two half sisters, Karen and Deb; a half brother,
John; and a full metric butt ton of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild Vivian, brothers Larry Hammer, Alan
Hammer, Terry Hammer, and sister Sharron Parker and nephew David Parker.
