Douglas M. Pointer, age 69, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Douglas was born on November 18, 1945, in Litchfield, Illinois, the son of Harry and Adeline (Minkanic) Pointer. He attended Livingston High School and graduated with the Class of 1964. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1967, then moved out West in 1969.
Douglas spent his life working as an Industrial Electrician and retired in 2000. He also worked on a ranch for a short time. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the National Rifle Association. He was an airplane pilot. Douglas loved horses and spending time outdoors trapping. He was a great carpenter, artist, and storyteller who had a wonderful sense of humor.
Douglas is survived by his mother, Adeline Ernst; sister, Ellen (David) Feltes of Morrison, Illinois, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father Harry Pointer; his step-father, Erwin Ernst; a sister, Carol Ann Banjura; and a brother, Clyde Joseph Pointer.
