Douglas J Kalec

Douglas J. Kalec, age 73 of Thomson, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. A time of sharing will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the funeral home.
Doug was born on August 6, 1938, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Suska) Kalec in Chicago, Illinois. He married Diane Koston on May 30, 1959 in Chicago. Doug was a truck driver most of his life and drove for various trucking companies. Doug and Diane retired and moved to Thomson in 2002. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding motorcycles and skiing at Chestnut Mountain Resort, Galena. Doug also enjoyed camping and taking walks with his wife, Diane. Most of all, Doug cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Doug will be dearly missed by his wife, Diane of Thomson; three children, Denise (Ric) Shipkowski of Worth, Illinois, David (Trich) Kalec of Plainfield, Illinois and Daniel Kalec of Chicago; three grandchildren, Joseph, Kristie and Derick Kalec, all of Plainfield, Illinois and one brother, Dennis (Karen) Kalec of San Angelo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald and one sister, Diana.
