Dorse Ray "Jay" Noe, age 78, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Cremation to take place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangments are being made by Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.
Dorse was born October 28, 1927, the son of James Jake and Alice Irene (Younger) Noe. On December 31, 2002, Dorse married Dolores E. Freeman in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Dorse worked in his youth as a Chef on the Barge lines, running up and down the Mississippi River. Which in his later years he moved to Savanna to be close to the Mississippi to keep an eye out for the Barges. Dorse worked thirty-five years for General Motors at the Wentzville, Missouri plant, retiring in 1985. He held membership in the Collinsville, Illinois Moose Lodge and Union Missouri Moose Lodge. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Chicago Cubs Baseball Fan.
Dorse will be deeply missed by his wife, Dolores of Savanna, a special sister in-law, Dawn (Loren) Michl of Savanna; one daughter, Janet (Stephen) Rhoads of St. Louis, Missouri; two step-daughters, Geri Freeman of Grafton, Wisconsin and Linda (Dick) Lockwood of Crystal Lake, Illinois; many grandchildren and step grandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Janet) Rice and Earl (Phyllis) Rice , all of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; a sister, Nancy (Jim) Davidson of Poplar Bluff, MO; three nephews and one niece.
Dorse was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Harold Rice; one brother, Edward Perkins; his first wife; Audrey Noe and second wife, Joby Noe.
