Dorothy Elizabeth Wendinger, age 92, of Lynnwood, Washington, formerly of Thomson, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Manor Care Nursing Home, Lynwood, Washington. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Illinois. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Dorothy was born June 28, 1913 in Chadwick, Illinois, the daughter of Conrad F. and Caroline (Hansen) Guinther. She was a graduate of Thomson High School, Thomson, Illinois. Dorothy married Lloyd Holman, he owned a used car lot in Thomson. Eventually their conflicting work schedules lead to a divorce. Dorothy moved to the Moline area where she met Fred William Wendinger. She owned and operated, Diamond Dry Cleaner, Fred owned and operated Sunrise Dry Cleaner both in Moline. In 1962, they moved to Seattle, Washington, during the Worlds Fair in Seattle. Dorothy very much loved and enjoyed her family. She cared for both of her parents in their later years, her two elderly Aunts and of course her loving husband, Fred. In 2005, Dorothy and her step-son, Guy came back to the Thomson area during a vacation. They visited many friends and neighbors, even going to Ozark, Missouri to visit old friends. Dorothy enjoyed sharing her memories and hometown with Guy.
Dorothy is survived by her step-son, Guy (Karleen) Wendinger of Camino Island, Washington; her step-daughter, Gayle (Greg) Couch of Bettendorf, Iowa; three grandchildren, Graham (Linda) Wendinger, Jennifer (Sean) Hunter and Angie (Steve) DaVita; five great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, her parents, her, Uncle Frank and Aunt Orvie Holman also her Aunts, Dorie Nanigan and Mary Williams.
